The Finance Association enhances the value of the student experience at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management (GSM) by enriching student’s financial education.
The Finance Association provides a framework for incorporating finance topics into the GSM, networking with alumni, and coordinating extracurricular events.
About our Club
The Finance Association is dedicated to extending the GSM finance curriculum beyond the classroom. By partnering with faculty, student organizations, outside experts and institiutions we are fortunate to have regular roundtables on current finance topics. We also provide networking opportunities with current students and graduates by holding regular socials and running a stock simulation competition.
Meet Our Board
The Finance Association is run by three student officers: President, Vice President, and Director of Finance.
Peter is a Professional Engineer and MBA candidate at UC Davis focusing on finance in the energy sector. Peter has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Geological Engineering. Prior to the GSM, he work in the design and construction of infrastructure for remote energy developments. Outside of school you will generally find him taking advantage of all that the California environment has to offer including skiing in the mountains and kiteboarding in the bay.
Michael Mikhov is a 2017 MBA Candidate with a concentration in finance. Michael received his undergraduate degree from UC Davis with a triple major in Economics, International Relations, and Russian. Prior to the GSM, he worked in financial services performing accounting and valuation for money market and hedge funds. During summer of 2016, Michael completed an internship with Keysight Technologies. During his time as a finance intern, he had the opportunity to gain exposure to service functions such as Business Finance, Financial Reporting, and Internal Audit. Outside of work, Michael enjoys cooking, watching basketball, and traveling around the world.
Director of Finances
Jim is a 2017 MBA candidate at the GSM with concentrations in investments and finance. Currently, Jim is working for Upwelling Capital Group, a private equity consulting firm in Davis. Prior to attending UC Davis, Jim spent 6 years as a Financial Advisor in Irvine, helping employees of hospitals and municipalities plan for retirement. Jim earned a B.S. in Financial Economics from the University of Redlands. When not at the GSM, Jim enjoys running a scuba travel business with his wife, Sarah. After graduation, Jim plans to continue his career in institutional investment management and hopes to focus on sustainable investment strategies.
