Overview

Johnson & Johnson (J&J), through its family of companies, employs approximately 118,000 people worldwide and is engaged in the manufacture and sale of a broad range of products in the health care field in many countries of the world. Johnson & Johnson’s primary interest, both historically and currently, has been in products related to health and well-being.

J&J’s Medical Device & Diagnostics (MD&D) division has a diversified portfolio of products.  Recently, a global sustainability strategy was developed that includes strategies and objectives around product stewardship (environmental product compliance & greener product development), supply chain (internal and external), employee engagement, and external stakeholder engagement.  The sustainability strategy is governed by a cross-functional council with scope including R&D, Communications, HR, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Environmental Health and Safety.  In order to demonstrate current and current and potential future value of the sustainability strategy to accelerate momentum, the company is seeking to develop a framework or model to quantify the financial returns of our sustainability investments.
