Dean's Announcement

A Message from Dean Currall

Dear GSM Community,

The task force looking into the November 2011 pepper-spray incident at UC Davis released its report and recommendations today. The documents have been posted to the UC Davis website, and will be unveiled at a public meeting here on campus that begins at 3:30 p.m.

The incident occurred after Occupy UC Davis students and supporters established a tent encampment to protest tuition and fee increases. When protesters refused orders to disperse, campus police officers used pepper spray.

University of California President Mark G. Yudof formed the task force shortly after this event. Chaired by former California Supreme Court Associate Justice Cruz Reynoso, the task force included diverse members of the UC Davis community.

You may read the task force findings, recommendations and background documents, and view a live webcast of today’s public forum on the UC Davis website. UC Davis has pledged open communication and ongoing dialogue regarding the pepper-spray incident.

UC Davis officials will make a preliminary response to the report next week. At the Graduate School of Management, we too will read and digest the task force findings and recommendations. We will actively keep the GSM community informed about developments.

Regards,

Steven C. Currall
Dean and Professor of Management
