In both the private and public sectors, effective corporate governance depends on checks and balances between board members and company staff to manage to company goals, shareholder expectations and even employee relations.This course should be valuable to students who anticipate involvement in corporate governance in almost any role: mergers and acquisitions, auditors, corporate finance, HR compensation and incentive analysis, strategy and planning, capital investments etc.This one unit course will touch on various methods of providing good corporate governance; however will focus on the role and characteristics of independent directors.
