A behavioral scientist, Professor Steven Currall has conducted research and taught for over two decades on organizational psychology topics such as innovation, emerging technologies, negotiation, and corporate governance. He served as dean of the Graduate School of Management from 2009-2014.
At the invitation of the U.S. President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Currall was a member of the Nanotechnology Technical Advisory Group. He has been a grantee on $21,533,893 in external funding of which over 78% came from refereed research grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Currall has held a range of administrative and faculty positions. In addition to positions in schools of management, he has served in engineering schools as vice dean, department chair, and endowed chair holder; he has also held faculty appointments in a Department of Psychology and in a Department of Statistics.
In June 2014, UC Davis Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi appointed Currall as Chancellor’s Advisor to lead the campus-wide effort to develop a possible additional campus in the Sacramento region. Currall transitioned from dean to his new role in October 2014.
He has served as a member of the boards of the ten-campus University of California Global Health Institute, BioHouston (interim Vice Chair; Executive Committee; chair of Governance Committee), Leadership in Medicine, Inc., Nanotechnology Foundation of Texas, and Interferometrics, Inc. a venture-funded medical device start-up.
He has been quoted over 600 times in publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Financial Times, International Herald Tribune, Business Week magazine, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) television and the Nightly Business Report.
