Marc Gottschalk is a Partner at Sidley Austin LLP. He is one of a small inner circle in Silicon Valley who pioneered the U.S. cleantech sector and helped shape it into a new driver for global innovation and economic growth. His core areas of practice include advising cleantech and other emerging growth companies in corporation formation and venture finance transactions.
Joe Schmidt has over 20 years of business development, strategic planning and financial management experience at leading agricultural multinationals and emerging technology companies. In his current role with Bayer CropScience, Schmidt is a member of the team responsible for the origination and assessment of acquisitions and the development, structuring and closing of licensing agreements and strategic partnerships. He came to BCS via its acquisition of AgraQuest, Inc. where he was VP of Business Development.
Josette Lewis joined UC Davis in August 2013 to help launch the World Food Center. Prior to joining UC Davis, she worked in business development with Arcadia Biosciences, an agricultural biotechnology company. Lewis spent sixteen years at the U.S. Agency for International Development, in a variety of areas of agricultural research and development, including serving as the Senior Biotechnology Advisor and Director of the Office of Agriculture.
Thomas Nelson is the President and Co-Founder of Capay Valley Farm Shop, a community-owned social enterprise that markets and distributes local, seasonal food from over 40 small to mid-sized family farms in the Capay Valley.

Su-Lin Shum serves as interim Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration.
Since 2011, she has worked as Principal Budget Analyst in the UC Davis Office of Budget and Institutional Analysis (BIA). At BIA, she provides advice and financial analysis to numerous units on campus such as Information and Educational Technology, Campus Library, and Development and External Relations. She has a deep understanding of university budget and finance policies, and has written several of those policies.
