Associate Director, World Food Center
Josette Lewis joined UC Davis in August 2013 to help launch the World Food Center. Prior to joining UC Davis, she worked in business development with Arcadia Biosciences, an agricultural biotechnology company. Lewis spent sixteen years at the U.S. Agency for International Development, in a variety of areas of agricultural research and development, including serving as the Senior Biotechnology Advisor and Director of the Office of Agriculture. As head of the Office of Agriculture, she worked with senior levels of the Administration to develop and launch a new global initiative on food security. She currently serves on the Agricultural Biotechnology in the 21st Century Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Agriculture and on the Board of Trustees of the International Life Sciences Institute Research Foundation.
Lewis holds a bachelor degree in genetics from the University of California, Davis
and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from UCLA.
