Puon Penn is a senior vice president and the group head of Wells Fargo Commercial Banking’s Technology and Venture Banking Group, which includes the Global CleanTech, Venture Services, Life Sciences and MedTech, General Technology, and Start-Up Services Regional Commercial Banking Services. Based in Palo Alto, Calif., he manages a team of banking professionals who serve the financial needs of businesses in the technology, life sciences, and medtech industries, as well as the venture community nationwide. The Wells Fargo Technology and Venture banking Group provides expertise, financial services, and resources to help innovative domestic and international companies focus on advancing new technologies and business models to solve some of the most complex problems facing humanity including global population growth, climate change and environmental impacts, and the ongoing fight against diseases.

Penn began his career with Wells Fargo in in the International Group as a
structured trade finance officer. He then became a senior relationship manager in the Commercial Banking group, serving the financial needs of middle-market companies. He has also worked in the Wells Fargo Principal Investing Group as a buy-side analyst covering the food and beverage, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and financial services sectors.

Penn earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Reed College in Portland, Ore., and his MBA from the University of Chicago. Active in the community, Penn is involved with several nonprofit organizations including the Cambodian Children’s Fund and Friends Without a Border.
