Sandy Louey
Director of Strategic Communications

Louey joined the UC Davis Graduate School of Management as Director of Strategic Communications in December 2013. The position is part of the School’s Marketing and Communications team.

She is responsible for overseeing media relations for the School, helping to raise the visibility of the School to a wide variety of audiences including media, bloggers, influencers, alumni, higher education administrators, business leaders, and the School’s diverse constituencies through all channels, ranging from print, web and social media.

Before joining UC Davis, she worked as an information offer at the California Energy Commission and a media specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau. Louey was a newspaper reporter for 17 years, including eight years at The Sacramento Bee, and stints at The Dallas Morning News, The Hartford Courant and The Patriot-Ledger.

Active in the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) since 1988, she is a former national and Bay Area scholarship winner.  Louey, who is the AAJA Sacramento president, was selected as co-AAJA Chapter President of the Year in 2013.

She has held a number of leadership positions within the organization, including co-president and secretary for the Sacramento chapter, vice-president of the Texas chapter and national board member for the New England and Texas chapters.

Louey received her B.A. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
