Big Bang! Business Plan Competition

Big Bang! Business Plan Competition

Last year, UC Davis received more than $678 million in funding for research projects. That’s more than any other UC campus, (sorry UC Berkeley & UCLA). And all of this research means that GSM students interested in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization have an almost endless set of opportunities.

Big Bang! Business Plan Competition brings together GSM students, campus researchers, and regional investors to make their ideas a reality. Big Bang! is a spring board for entrepreneurial students who want to build and refine their ideas. Last year, more than 40 teams competed for cash prizes, and the winner has already receiving outside funding for his project.

Of course, success involves more than just bringing people together, and that is why Big Bang also hosts series of educational seminars. Industry leaders discuss the intricacies of marketing, intellectual property, business plan writing, as well as pitch mechanics. These discussions and lectures focus students on what it takes to move ideas from paper into the real world.

Even if you never start your own business, the experience of taking part in Big Bang! will open up a new world of connections and experiences that will be invaluable throughout your business career.

We look forward to seeing your ideas next fall!
