Bonjour! Come for the French, Stay for the Career Development
Antoine Broustra says immersion offerings are key to launching careers

Bonjour to all!

As a transplant from the east — originally from Paris, France, but most recently at Yale University — I immediately felt the warmth in the Graduate School of Management’s community. Between the welcoming environment, prime location and the Northern California weather, I understand better the attraction of UC Davis.

Now in my second month as the senior director of career development, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting much of our community with the students, faculty, staff and alumni.

I’ve discovered a unique community that’s committed to making a positive difference through the power of business.

I was impressed to discover the breadth and depth of our offerings for students and the wealth of opportunities to help launch their careers.

Beyond the traditional core courses, our MBA students now have the opportunity to immerse in four specific industry sectors that focus on UC Davis’ key strengths: Biotechnology, Food and Agriculture, Sustainable Energy and CFO for Technology. In these distinctive, multidisciplinary Industry Immersion courses, students learn from top executives and collaborate with peer graduate students from across the campus. The Industry Immersions insert students into real-life cases to prepare them for future market challenges.

In addition to the Industry Immersions, our second-year MBA students earn hands-on experience through our IMPACT Program — a 10-week consulting practicum in which students team up on problem-solving that brings actionable value to client companies.

Student teams have worked on strategic planning, marketing and operations analysis for high-profile companies such as Google; Cisco; Agilent; Mars, Inc.; PG&E; HP; Chevron; AT&T; HM.CLAUSE and many others.

UC Davis truly has a unique vibe — a transformational experience in which students learn to think in new ways, expand their networks and make an impact. I’ve discovered a unique community that’s committed to making a positive difference through the power of business.
