My Fast Track to a Big Four Firm
Two years ago I was in your shoes. Graduation from college was right around the corner and I was not sure what was next. I asked myself: Do I try my luck in the job market? Do I continue to graduate school?
After earning degrees in biochemistry and economics, I decided to merge my interest in business and science by working at a biotechnology startup. I helped with finance and accounting, working alongside the CEO and COO. The learning curve was steep, but manageable. After a year, the company had exploded—growing and becoming more complex. I was in over my head and decided I needed more education to take my career to the next level.
I needed to learn business skills that I could apply to any industry. And, I needed to grow my professional network. I wanted to kick start my career in a fast-growing field. The only program that fit the bill was the UC Davis Master of Professional Accountancy.
The 9-month program develops business professionals that excel in all fields of accounting. The classes are rigorous, and are preparing me for the CPA exam and an exciting career. My classmates are supportive while constantly challenging me to do my best.
multiple offers Within only a few months
The program has a proven track record of success. Every single graduate of last year’s class was placed in a career position, and the CPA exam pass rate is among the best in the state. There are also several formats to choose from, including accelerated 9-month or 21-month options that can be completed either full-time or part-time.
Within only a few months in the program, I was fortunate enough to receive multiple job offers from top accounting firms. I accepted my offer from PricewaterhouseCoopers in Sacramento and I will be starting there as an audit associate after graduation in June.
Joining the UC Davis Graduate School of Management community is a great opportunity. I’ve made lifelong friends and professional contacts I will continue to keep in touch with during my career. The faculty and staff are tremendous, and, most importantly, they are dedicated to helping you.
