Newly Appointed Academic Director for MPAc Program

It’s an honor to bring my expertise and enthusiasm as the new academic director of the Master of Professional Accountancy program.

Hollis Skaife

Since I joined the Graduate School of Management (GSM) in 2013, I’ve taught many classes in the program. My goal has been to cultivate students’ passion for accounting and help them find joy in learning as the program prepares them for successful careers in accounting.

While many think of accounting as boring or being more about math, accounting is a very dynamic discipline and I’m excited to see the opportunities that lay ahead.

With orientation and the start of classes this month, I’ve had a lot to learn taking over for Professor Robert Yetman, who has transitioned as academic director of our MBA programs.

Since 2012, we’ve seen more than 50% of our MPAc graduates hired by the Big Four accounting firms. The MPAc faculty create a supportive environment for our students to master the technical aspects of accounting and the nuances of being an accounting professional.

Our outstanding staff focuses on students’ career development, ensuring that students are fully connected to a strong network of companies, alumni and others who support our program.

This month, we achieved a 100% placement rate for our recent 2019 graduates. This reflects of the quality of the teaching and career development support offered in the MPAc program, and desire of regional, national and international accounting firms to hire our graduates.

Located in beautiful Northern California, UC Davis has been recognized among the most beautiful and most “green” campuses in the nation. It is easily accessible, close to Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area, and offers a wonderful, college town atmosphere for graduate study.

Whether you are a recent graduate with a bachelor’s in accounting looking for the final step toward a CPA, or have no accounting background and want to make a career change, our 9-month MPAc program prepares you for a successful career. The program qualifies you for the California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam as well as other professional certifications.

Many of our candidates boast variety and excellence beyond accounting, and we welcome this diversity.

Our goal is to advance candidates’ accounting knowledge, critical thinking skills, communications skills as well as mentor candidates to become young professionals who will find success in their careers.

Please reach out to me if you’d like to learn more about our MPAc program.

Enjoy learning,
