The Food & Wine Leadership Association seeks to enhance student academic, social and professional growth in all aspects of the food, agriculture and wine industries by facilitating networking opportunities, providing resources, coaching and connecting with industry professionals.
UC Davis is both a leading agriculture institution and home to one of the best-respected viticulture and enology programs in the world. It is the mission of the Food & Wine Leadership Association to help the GSM community to become more familiar with, and active within, these industries.
About our Club
Steve Stearns, President
Steve Stearns is a 2018 MBA candidate obsessed with eating delicious food & drinking scrumptious wine. He has lead a diverse professional life. He has been a chef (Noma), a food scientist doing reach in food chemical engineering (UC Davis), general manager in the wine industry, and most recently active in agriculture startup world doing venture capital (Monsanto Growth Ventures). When away from food & wine Steve can be found at the climbing gym or the local Tahoe area crags bouldering with his wife Emily and their two dogs Benji & Turtle. His vision for the FWLA is to provide those at the GSM who share his passion for food & wine with opportunities for employment & education.
Kelly Brown, Vice President
Kelly Brown is a 2018 MBA Candidate interested in marketing and organizational behavior. She is the Vice President of the Food & Wine Leadership Association and is also an active participant in Women in Leadership (WiL) at the GSM. Kelly is a Northern California native and also completed her undergraduate at UC Davis, graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics. Since then, Kelly has worked in tech as a finance analyst and in marketing for a ROI campaign measurement company. Kelly lives in Sacramento and enjoys yoga, soccer, camping, and visiting her husband in Oklahoma where he is stationed for Air Force pilot training.
