Mission, Purpose & Objectives
The Graduate School of Management Student Association Bay Area (GSMSA Bay Area) aims to improve the experience of students in the UC Davis Bay Area MBA program in order to prepare exemplary business leaders who make an impact in the global marketplace.
The purpose of the GSMSA Bay Area is to serve as a liaison between the Bay Area MBA students and the administration of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
The objective of the GSMSA Bay Area is to act as a strategic advisory board to the deans with the intentions of (a) improving the quality, value, and community of the Bay Area MBA Program, and (b) providing a platform for the discussion and action around issues of student concern.
Additionally, GSMSA Bay Area seeks to grow the value of the Graduate School of Management (GSM) in the U.S. and internationally by finding ways to increase the value proposition of the program for prospective students and employers.
Gem is a 2020 MBA candidate focused on business strategy and general management. Gem completed her bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco in business administration while she acquired a variety of experiences in the finance, public relations, non-profit and local government sectors. She currently works for the State of California as a staff services manager. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Gatha is a 2021 MBA Candidate focused on Product Management and general management. Gatha was born in Delhi, India and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. She moved to the U.S. in 2014 to pursue an M..S in Information Technology at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. After completing her master’s degree, she began her career as a technical support engineer at Informatica. Now, Gatha is a senior software engineer as part of the Customer Engineering team at Cisco Appdynamics. She works with large enterprise customers on a day to day basis to help them with Appdynamics EUM and Analytics product. In her spare time, she likes to travel, doing adventure sports and explore new restaurants/cuisines with friends.
Aliona is a 2020 MBA candidate focused on finance and entrepreneurship. After earning her master’s of finance from the Academy of Economic Sciences in Moldova, she made a career in one of the leading banks as a corporate finance professional. After moving to the U.S., Aliona co-founded a family retail business and helped build it from the ground up. Realizing new ideas, working on a problem and finally achieving high results, made Aliona passionate about entrepreneurship. Over the last few quarters at the GSM, Aliona has worked as a teaching assistant and enjoys helping students. Together with her family, Aliona enjoys the outdoors and singing.
Tanuj is a 2020 MBA candidate focused on business strategy and finance. Tanuj was born in India and raised in the United Arab Emirates, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand. He moved to California in 2007 and earned his bachelor’s at UC Davis, majoring in Neurobiology with a minor in Technology Management. Tanuj currently works as a pricing analyst at Splunk and is looking to transition into product management. In his spare time, Tanuj enjoys kite-surfing, traveling and discovering new hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
Suzanne is a 2020 MBA candidate focused on Project Management and Sustainability. Suzanne completed her undergraduate degree in Human Development at UC Davis, where she also competed on the track and field team. After graduating, she taught English in Busan, South Korea, and later obtained her Certificate in Project Management from UC Berkeley Extension. She is currently a project manager at an education non-profit in Oakland, where she manages the build out of K-12 schools and implements change management. When not in class, you can find Suzanne rock climbing, running or reading a new non-fiction book.
Lisa is a 2020 MBA candidate focused on general management and business strategy. Lisa received her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in Integrated Marketing Communications. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Lisa moved to New York and has held several digital marketing and communications roles across the entertainment and medical industries, consumer brands, and non-profits. Most recently, Lisa is working in high-tech doing employee and executive communications. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys living an adventurous lifestyle, whether it’s exploring a new hobby, neighborhood or hiking trail.
Connie is a 2020 MBA Candidate at the GSM focused on general management and business strategy. In addition to her role on the GSMSA, she serves as a Bay Area MBA Ambassador. Connie received her bachelor’s degree from UC Davis in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Connie began her career as a chemist in multiple global pharmaceutical companies. While in business school, Connie made the transition to management consulting. She currently works as a project management consultant for life science clients. In her spare time, Connie enjoys adventuring and spending time with her friends.
Emily Setoudeh is a 2020 MBA candidate focusing on marketing and entrepreneurship. She initially became involved with GSMSA as an incoming student when she helped to plan the Bay Area’s Signature Event in 2017. In addition to serving on GSMSA, she served as the president of the Bay Area Ambassador Program (BAAP) in 2018-19. Emily was born and raised in the East Bay, and completed her undergraduate degree in structural engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Emily works as a structural design engineer for Buehler Engineering in San Francisco, and recently helped to do target market research and rebranding for the company’s new launch. In her spare time, Emily enjoys going to the gym, adventuring outdoors, and working on her new business as a health and wellness coach through Arbonne International.
Vidya is a 2019 MBA candidate focused on business analytics and strategy. Vidya grew up in India and received her bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering. Vidya has over twelve years of industry experience primarily in biotech focused on both technical and functional domain areas. Vidya currently works at Genentech, where she manages the federal Sunshine reporting. In her spare time, Vidya enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Angela DiGioia is a 2020 MBA candidate focused on organizational strategy and leadership. In addition to serving on the GSMSA BA, Angela joined the Bay Area Ambassador Program as a first-year student, motivated by her love of the Bay Area and desire to help strengthen the GSM program and family here. Angela was born and raised in the East Bay, and completed her undergraduate degree in business at Cal State, Sacramento. She is an IT Business Relationship Manager at Chevron in San Ramon, helping to develop IT and digital transformation strategies for the chemical additives business. In her spare time, Angela enjoys traveling the world, brewing her own beer at home, and going on adventures with her husband Paul and her dog Penny.
