UC Davis Accounting Grads Master CPA Exam
Master of Professional Accountancy has No. 1 pass rate in California
(Davis, Calif.) – Master of Professional Accountancy graduates at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management are No. 1 in CPA exam performance among the 16 graduate accounting programs in California.
According to the recently released 2014 National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) Uniform CPA Examination Candidate Performance publication, UC Davis accounting graduates had a pass rate of 75 percent, significantly higher than the average of 55 percent for all jurisdictions.
In California, to earn the certified public accountant license, individuals are required to demonstrate their knowledge and competence by passing the Uniform CPA Exam, meeting high educational standards, including a new requirement of 150 total semester units that includes accounting, business-related topics and ethics study. Candidates must pass all four parts of the CPA exam: financial, auditing, regulation and business.
“Our graduates’ high CPA exam pass rate is a clear reflection of the quality of our students and the instruction they receive,” said accounting Professor Robert Yetman, faculty director of the program. “In the UC Davis Master of Professional Accountancy program, we focus on ethical decision making, professionalism, and a heavy dose of good old-fashioned hard work. It is these values that transform our students into the accounting leaders of tomorrow.”
