POSITION DETAILS

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, working with the MPAc Faculty Director and Executive Director, and collaborating with the Student Affairs staff, manage key programs, provide high-level professional support for the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc) program. Manage orientation, registration, programming, events, employer relations, and support admissions, alumni affairs and career development. Initiate, develop, implement and manage new programs, policies and processes affecting academic & student services and employer relations. Provide a transformative student experience and develop high-level recruiter relationships. Provide policy guidance to diverse students, faculty, staff, alumni, applicants, company representatives and the general public about MPAc procedures, programming, deadlines, and events. Serve as a primary source of information and communication for MPAc current students, UC Davis community, other institutions, and employers.

Essential Responsibilities:

30% PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

Working with MPAc Program Directors and Student Affairs, ensure that MPAc students have an exceptional experience. Serve as a focal point for student concerns, needs, and issues. Anticipate opportunities and issues before they arise and develop programs and processes to ensure their success. Develop measurement tools to assess student satisfaction. Serve as one of the front-line decision-makers and communicators for student needs for MPAc activities, events and processes. Represent the program and the GSM, and establish and maintain relationships with current students, alumni, other institutions and employers for networking and student recruiting opportunities. Analyze processes and functions and make recommendations for improving program effectiveness. Provide high-level advice and guidance to diverse students, faculty, staff, alumni, applicants, company representatives, and the general public regarding MPAc policies and procedures, deadlines, events, including orientation, registration, special programs, courses, curriculum, academic policies, graduation, commencement and other critical information. Assist in enforcement and interpretation of MPAc policies and procedures, monitor student compliance, and take appropriate action to resolve situations. Maintain the confidentiality of student information in accordance with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and other laws and regulations.

30% EMPLOYER RELATIONS/PLACEMENT

Established, maintain and deepen partnerships with critical corporate partners, including Big 4 accounting firms. At an extremely high level, cultivate relationships with a wide range of representatives, from recruiters to partners/executives. Identify and develop strategies to secure placements for MPAc students in top firms. Help students prepare for applications and interviews.

20% RECRUITING AND ADMISSIONS

Help to develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies aimed at growing MPAc applications and enrollment. Provide comprehensive, in-depth MPAc program information through individual advising sessions, group workshops and panel discussions to a diverse population of potential MPAc students. Represent the GSM at a variety of admissions-related events and activities. Assist with all administrative functions involved with the maintenance and operation of admissions protocol and procedures. Fulfill responsibilities in a professional, time-sensitive and confidential manner.

10% REGISTRAR SUPPORT

Provide support on full range of enrollment activities, involving a variety of online systems. Provide enrollment and registration support for the MPAc program and provide information to the Deans, Admissions & Student Services and Development & External Relations. Ensure accuracy of data and statistics used in reporting. Complete special projects as requested by the Dean, Senior Assistant Dean and Directors. Manage the content and updates for substantial portions of the GSM student website, perform content edits, updates and additions for information on admissions, student programs, orientation, academic requirements, registration, and commencement.

10% OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

Make independent decisions, including budgetary allocations, for event needs and resources. Coordinate event logistics with other campus departments or off-campus vendors, including catering, room reservations, room set-up, collateral materials, presentations, and audio/visual equipment needs for information sessions, orientation, campus visits, travel arrangements and other events. Secure student and alumni speakers.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand continuously (up to 6 hours with regular scheduled breaks) during events.
  • Ability to lift/maneuver up to 25 lbs. of materials and equipment.
  • Work occasional overtime and work adjusted hours as needed – including evenings, holidays, and weekends – sometimes on short notice, to meet operational needs.
  • Requires travel, including overnight and weekends, in state, nationally and internationally as the need arises. Travel to Sacramento, Davis and San Ramon campuses and Sacramento and Bay Area locations; a valid California driver’s license and passport are required.
Work Environment:

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Progressive experience managing a complex program in a fast-paced professional work environment.
  • Skills to manage and deliver complex projects and programs on time and on budget.
  • Experience developing and successfully executing strategic plans, including goals, action plan, and metrics.
  • Skills to develop and deliver marketing presentations, to persuade others and to relay information through public speaking and presentations. Skills to deliver information for small and large groups.
  • Skills to effectively take initiative, prioritize, exercise independent judgment, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Analytical skills to prepare statistical reports and analyze a variety of data and processing systems.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading skills to produce emails, letters, memos, reports, etc.
  • Experience handling challenging, sensitive and/or confidential issues with student groups, persons of varying ages and ethnic backgrounds, special interest groups, organizations, employers and company representatives, alumni, campus staff, faculty, the public, and others.
  • Computer skills including advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Skills to work with databases. 
Preferred Qualifications for Selection:
  • Experience in graduate management admissions or student services. Broad and specific knowledge of the graduate and professional student experiences.
  • Knowledge of and experience with UC Davis and campus resources.
