The Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Davis, seeks temporary instructors to teach a course on Cloud Computing for the academic quarter of Winter 2020. The course is part of the curriculum for the Masters of Science in Business Analytics program, offered in downtown San Francisco. (See https://gsm.ucdavis.edu/msba-academics for more details.)
The lecturer will be responsible for teaching two sections of the course. The course will be taught on Friday/Saturday during the 2020 Winter quarter.
The course covers the foundations of cloud computing models including (Iaas) Infrastructure as a Service, (Paas) Platform as a Service and Software as a Service (SaaS). It will introduce topics including cloud infrastructure, software defined networks and storage. The course also discusses the economic and technological motivations as well as the benefits and challenges of the cloud, service level agreements (SLAs), security and use cases.
Positions are contingent on funding and pending administrative approval. Salary is based on ability and experience. Applicants should have an advanced degree, preferably in the areas of Management Science, Operations Research, Marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, computer Engineering or Business Analytics. Applicants with significant industry experience in this domain will be preferred. In lieu of an advanced degree, we will also consider applicants with 5 years or more of relevant work experience in this domain.

Unit 18 Lecturers are governed under a collective bargaining agreement (American Federation of Teachers (AFT) – Non-Senate Instructional Unit). Under this contract, once a lecturer accumulates enough quarters of service, the lecturer can be reviewed for a Continuing Lecturer position.
