Marcus Seiden
Founding Partner, JARDESCA California Aperitiva

As a founding partner in JARDESCA California Aperitiva, Marcus Seiden manages operations, finance and the day to day business.  Marcus is a seasoned wine executive with a background in private equity finance and consumer packaged goods. He holds an MBA from UC Davis with a concentration in marketing and finance.

Seiden’s passion for wine business began in the late 90’s while helping a family friend with harvest in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County.  At the time, he was working for a private equity firm in Los Angeles, and the thought of working in the wine business was a fleeting dream.  He was able to turn that dream into reality in 2001 when he left his corporate job to study viticulture and enology at Fresno State.

Seiden began his career in the wine business as a viticulture intern at Sterling Vineyards in the Napa Valley. He quickly moved through the ranks when Sterling was acquired by Diageo PLC, the world’s largest alcohol company, and was able to marry his passion for wine with his business acumen.

While at Diageo, Seiden developed a deep network of winery and grower relationships as he headed up grape and bulk wine strategy for all of Diageo’s wine brands- ultimately responsible for purchasing $100 million of grapes and bulk wine each year. After almost a decade at Diageo, Seiden left in 2012 to run River Road Vineyards and Winery, a 40,000 case winery in the Russian River Valley focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. As General Manager at River Road, Seiden was responsible for all operations including vineyards, winemaking, finance and direct sales.

In addition to his career in the wine business, Seiden has a passion for food and was a key advisor and partner in Phil’s Fresh Foods, parent company of Evol Foods, a natural and organic frozen food company sold to Boulder Brands (NASDAQ: BDBD) in December 2013.

Seiden has served as a board member for the Carneros Wine Alliance and Vice President for Sonoma County Vineyard Technical Group.  In 2013 he was awarded North Bay Business Journal’s “Forty under Forty” most influential executives in the San Francisco North Bay.

Seiden lives in beautiful Sonoma County with his wife, Robyn and their two sons Axel and Magnus. When not sharing his passion for food and wine, you can find Seiden surfing, snow skiing, golfing, or playing tennis with his family.
