Terry Exner MBA 09

Outstanding Service Award

Terry Exner

Terry Exner graduated from the Graduate School of Management’s Bay Area MBA program in 2009. She also holds a BS in business administration from San Jose State University, where she was the treasurer of the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity, a member of the Beta Sigma Honor Society and president of  Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She played on the San Jose State’s women’s golf team.

Exner’s work experience has taken her from accounting roles as a CPA at PWC to a VP of merchandising and marketing at Safeway Inc., to her current role as an independent business strategy and organization consultant and instructor of business administration and College Council co-chair at Ohlone Community College.

Exner’s service to the GSM Alumni Association began while she was a student, when she was the co-chair of her program’s Class Gift Campaign and a member of the student council. Since her graduation Exner has consistently and generously supported the School with her time, expertise and philanthropy. She served on the Alumni Association’s board of directors from 2012 to 2016 including roles as vice president and chair of the engagement committee; helped launch the online alumni volunteer form; served on the association’s alumni award selection committee from 2010 to 2017; was a GSM guest lecturer and a panelist for “Staying Ahead of the Curve; How Innovative Companies Stay on Top” as part of the 2011 Peer-to-Pier event. She has also served as a class ambassador since 2011.

Exner and her husband, Al, are consistent annual donors, and she has been a Dean’s Executive Circle member since 2012.

Michelle Leyden Li JD 93, MBA 95

Distinguished Achievement Award

Michelle Leyden Li

For much of the past two decades, Michelle Leyden Li has held executive positions in product marketing, product management and sales in the semiconductor industry, including leadership roles at Qualcomm, Zilog and Intel. Today she is vice president of product marketing for GlobalFoundries, the world’s largest specialty foundry, providing manufacturing services to the semiconductor industry. She is part of a leadership team that is responsible for over $6B annual revenue and 16,000 employees.

Outside of work, Leyden Li is active in volunteer work, recently traveling with her husband and daughter to build houses in Mexico with Come Build Hope, and to Budapest, Hungary, with her daughter to teach English and baseball to children and teenagers as part of the Word of Life Ministry. Leyden Li and her husband, Hong-Shen, recently celebrated their 30th anniversary and have two children. Alex is a Navy officer currently earning his medical degree at USUHS and Grace is sophomore in high school and a starter on her varsity basketball team.

Leyden Li is a member of the GSM Dean’s Advisory Council and an expert who has lent her voice to the School many times over the years, including at last year’s Women in Tech panel. She is a member of Society of Women Engineers and the California Bar Association. Her peers describe her as “passionate,” “versatile,” “savvy” and having a “ringmaster’s confidence.” In addition to her UC Davis MBA, she holds a Juris Doctor from King Hall School of Law at UC Davis and a bachelor of fine arts in music performance from SUNY-Purchase.
