Job Summary:

The Online MBA Program Coordinator provides operational coordination and planning for the online MBA program. The successful candidate for this position will embody a collaborative and supportive relationship with faculty, and demonstrate an ability to work successfully with a cross-functional team of staff professionals and faculty across many School and University disciplines. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the successful launch and operation of a new online graduate degree program, with a functional focus on academic matters. The Program Coordinator plans and coordinates critical processes, identifies improvements, resolves issues, and facilitates and helps ensure operational success. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Dean.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

50% ONLINE MBA PROJECT COORDINATION

In collaboration with the MBA Academic Director, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration (hereafter the management group), coordinate all academic and administrative operations for the successful launch and operations of the online MBA. Develop and manage a project plan that ensures all critical path elements are addressed in a timely and effective manner. Escalate elements that are falling behind to the management group and/or to the Dean. Identify cross-functional issues and garner the resources from across the GSM to address them, including calling and facilitating meetings and working groups. Manage the online MBA launch budget and the discretionary program budget. Identify best practices in online education for promotion to faculty and staff. Develop, propose and coordinate a three-year continuous improvement operations plan for the online MBA. Ensure Assurance of Learning is implemented in the online MBA. Maintain the Policies and Procedures Manual for the Online MBA.

25% RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

Serve as a principal point of contact with 2U, Inc., the online program manager for the GSM online MBA and ensure a regular flow of accurate and effective communication. Coordinate GSM 2U regular meetings. Ensure that the GSM is meeting service level agreements in the contract and bring gaps in 2U’s performance to the attention of the management group. Escalate matters that require the attention of the management group and/or the Dean. Identify opportunities to improve the online program through the partnership with 2U.

25% GRADUATE PROGRAM COMMITTEE SUPPORT

Support the MBA Graduate Program Group and Graduate Program Committee in all academic matters. Ensure that the MBA programs policies and procedures are up to date. Support the GPC in program reviews and accreditation. Provide data and policy analyses as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • Minimum three years work experience in a professional business office environment, higher education or related field.
  • Experience in graduate management academics, admissions or student services.
  • Broad and specific knowledge of the graduate and professional student experiences.
  • Progressive experience with coordinating complex projects in a fast-paced professional work environment, delivering on time and on budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and successfully executing project plans, including goals, action plans, and metrics.
  • Skills to effectively take initiative, prioritize, exercise independent judgment, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Skills to establish and maintain an essential, complex and multi-layered relationship with a partner institution.
  • Analytical skills to analyze information and prepare reports.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading skills to quickly and accurately produce emails, letters, memos, reports, etc.
  • Computer skills including competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications for Selection:
  • MBA, or other Master’s degree, or a combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with UC Davis and campus resources.
Physical Demands:

Ability to stand continuously (up to 6 hours with regular scheduled breaks) during events.

Ability to lift supplies and materials weighing up to 25 lbs

Work evenings, holidays, and weekends sometimes on short notice, to meet operational needs.

Work Environment:

Based in Davis, CA, on campus. Requires travel, including overnight and weekends, in state and nationally as the need arises. A valid California driver’s license is required.
