John Carter is an accomplished data and analytics executive and consultant with broad industry experience leveraging data and analytics to drive business impact. His expertise includes enterprise data management, business analytics, predictive modeling, digital transformation and AI/machine learning. He is currently helping companies use data and analytics to strategically transform their organizations and capabilities to accelerate growth.
Previously, he was senior vice president, analytics & business insight at Charles Schwab where he created a high-performance enterprise analytics organization and pioneered the use of unstructured big data and AI/ML capabilities. Carter also was chief data officer at Equifax, Inc. where he established data strategy, data acquisition and data governance best practices across Equifax’s global business units. During his career, he has also held senior level positions at Acxiom, Citibank and Responsys.
Carter received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Connecticut.
He now serves as a lecturer at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program and teaches practicum initiation courses. These courses give students a broad understanding of how to deliver successful analytics projects to business partners while working on their practicum projects.
