Manager of Technology Commercialization, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Michael is currently the Manager of Technology Commercialization at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where he has overall responsibility for the Licensing and Industrial Business Development group and associated policies and processes.
Michael came to LLNL from Western Michigan University, where he was the founding Director of Intellectual Property (IP) Management & Commercialization for eight years. He was hired to start the new business unit at WMU, to create a long-term plan for managing its IP assets, and to develop commercial opportunities based on those assets.
Michael has over 15 years of experience making and overseeing investment decisions in early-stage technologies and in managing the IP commercialization process. His experience includes negotiating numerous license agreements and helping launch many start-up companies in a broad range of industries and markets.
Michael also has a Ph.D. from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in business from Purdue University.
