Keynote Address: Securing a Corporate Partner Early: Living the Dream or Selling Your Soul?
Dr. Michelle Haven is the senior vice president of corporate development and alliances at Zoetis, located in Florham Park, N.J.
Haven led global strategy, business development and global alliances for Pfizer Animal Health prior to the spin-off of the animal health division to form Zoetis. Before transitioning to corporate development in 2008, she had led global discovery research for Pfizer Animal Health for several years, leading teams that contributed a number of products to the Zoetis portfolio for both companion animals and livestock. She began her animal health industry career at Merck Research Labs in 1994, and led early research projects that were progressed to products for the treatment and control of gastric ulcers, and pain and inflammation.
Haven attended University of Illinois, earning her BS in 1982, and a DVM in 1986. She received her Ph.D. in gastrointestinal physiology with a minor in pathology from North Carolina State University in 1994. She also completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery from University of Missouri, and a residency in equine surgery from North Carolina State University. Haven became board certified in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1994.
Haven served on the board of trustees for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, founded the International Veterinary Collaboration for China, and participates in a number of nonprofit initiatives.
