Google's Siadatan is Passionate about Helping People and Solving Problems
At Google’s Sunnyvale campus, UC Davis alumnus Ramak Siadatan helps empower corporate clients to bring innovative technology to their business so people can work better together. It’s about tools for improving collaboration and solving problems.
Siadatan’s work as a sales enablement lead at Google mirrors his life passion. Siadatan, who at UC Davis earned his B.S. in agricultural and managerial economics in 1999 and his MBA in 2006, gives back in many ways to his alma mater. He has recently served as president of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association Board of Directors. He answered a few questions about his post-MBA personal and professional life:

What are you passionate about in your work?
I love helping people and I love solving problems. My work allows me to do both. Through the training programs we launch, assets we create and consulting we provide, we are enabling people to more easily sell high-quality products and solutions that transform how companies across all industries operate.
How has your UC Davis MBA experience helped shape your success?
The Graduate School of Management’s Sacramento Part-Time MBA program gave me access to brilliant faculty and brilliant classmates while I was still working full time. Being able to apply what I learned to my job on a daily basis accelerated the improvement of my business acumen and strategic thinking skills. As a result, I have had a distinct advantage ever since in being able to articulate the business value of our learning programs.
Briefly, describe your career path.
As a UC Davis undergrad, I used the career fair to land my first job with Hewlett-Packard before graduation. Within my first year at HP, I found a spot in a learning and development role, and have spent nearly 20 years honing my learning and development/ enablement craft as an instructor, course and curriculum developer, operations manager and business consultant.
Describe your current job as sales enablement lead at Google Cloud
As a sales enablement lead, it is my responsibility to meet training and other enablement needs for our internal sellers as well as those partners that sell our products on our behalf. That comes in the form of sales training for product launches, skill building workshops, best practice webinars, creating or sourcing assets that support a sales rep during a deal cycle, and providing strategic and tactical consultation to our sales leadership team. Currently, with our organization growing so quickly, I spend most of my time running the Google Cloud onboarding program.
Where is your career headed?
After so many years in the same field, I still carry the same passion I have had since day one. I also still have the same simple goal, which is to share what I am good at to help as many people as possible. Whether I am in a leadership role at a large company or an individual contributor managing the entire program for a smaller business, as long as I am able to meet my goal each day I will be very happy.
How are you making a positive impact in the world?
I take great pride in helping people be more successful in their jobs. When they are better able to achieve their professional and financial goals, they are often less likely to take work stress home with them. It may sound silly, but I like the idea that I had a hand in someone going home a little happier.
What is the most interesting thing that’s happened to you since graduating?
It has been great working in global roles that have sent me to places like Panama, England, France, Switzerland, India, Singapore, Malaysia and China. Not only have I been able to meet interesting people and learn about different cultures, but as my family has grown I have been able to share some of those experiences with them as well. (Side note–some toddler stages are better than others when traveling with a child under the age of five!)
How do you stay involved with the GSM and UC Davis now?
Along with frequent campus visits for football games and annual activities like Picnic Day (haven’t missed one in over 20 years), I have spent several years working with the Cal Aggie Alumni Association. It was an honor to serve as a board director since 2010, including four years as CAAA immediate past president. I stay connected with the GSM through my personal relationships.
Anything else you’d like to share?
My wife Allison is also a UC Davis alumna, and I met her in the Cal Aggie Marching Band. We are raising two great kids, an eight-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl. Our combined family has eight Aggie graduates.
