Zane Starkewolfe works closely with the Child Family Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to create new companies based on UC Davis technologies, and helps identify early stage funding for UC Davis researchers engaged in translational research. Starkewolfe has 15 years of experience in science-based entrepreneurship in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and clean energy industries.
Starkewolfe worked at Burrill & Company, a San Francisco-based venture capital and investment firm focused on the life sciences, where he evaluated investment opportunities, helped raise new venture funds and advised companies on financing, business development, intellectual property licensing, M&A and clinical trial design. Starkewolfe has previously co-founded a point-of-care diagnostic company based on UC Davis technology in nano materials, launched a digital health company and helped establish a health care advisory and investment firm.
Starkewolfe obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Davis with a designated emphasis in Biotechnology and Translational Research, B.Sci in Physics, and was a UC Davis Howard Hughes Medical Institute Scholar.
