About This Course

Negotiation is a key skill that’s necessary for both business and everyday life. When used strategically, negotiation can be fundamental in achieving your personal and professional objectives and building relationships in the boardroom and beyond.

Presented by UC Davis Graduate School of Management (GSM) in collaboration with GetSmarter, this online short course will introduce you to negotiation in a new light. Under the guidance of one of GSM’s most celebrated lecturers, negotiation expert Jim Olson, you’ll gain the tools to negotiate successfully in any context. While traditional distributive negotiation strategies tend to polarize parties into winners and losers, this course teaches integrative negotiation, which focuses on mutually beneficial results. Thus, negotiation becomes an opportunity to enhance relationships and strengthen teams.

Through an engaging, highly collaborative online learning experience, you’ll gain the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals from around the world. Learn from leading experts in their fields as you study at one of the top public universities in the United States, while growing your confidence and influence. Explore how to navigate power, influence, culture, and ethics throughout your career with practical examples and live negotiation sessions.

Whether you’re regularly confronted with high-stakes negotiations or are seeking to expand your personal or professional development, this course will help you become more strategic in your approach.
