Improving efficiencies, reducing costs for better health care for all
Satish Mahajan is a Ph.D. candidate in healthcare leadership and nursing science at the UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing.
What’s important about your research—and where do you hope to take it?
My research involves working on large data sets built from electronic health records. These data sets are used with predictive modeling and natural language processing algorithms to provide patient-centric healthcare. The outcomes are also used to improve efficiencies in care delivery and reduce costs while improving care quality.
What are you most passionate about in your work?
I have created the data models for one chronic disease process through my research and development at this point. I am passionate about applying my work to improve the patient outcomes and validating it with other chronic diseases. I am also very interested in extending the work across various healthcare organizations to bring them together.
How will the Business Development Fellows program help you to change the world?
I hope to build a network of people who can help me realize the potential of better health care for all Americans, drawing on both new technology and existing resources.
