Director, Business Development
Alex Breckon joins the GSM after completing a year in Cambodia as the 2016/17 USAID Connecting the Mekong Through Education and Training (USAID COMET) Fellow and Country Manager. In that role, he applied his leadership, communications, innovation, and training experience to help develop and grow a regional work-readiness and human capacity building program. In addition to facilitating leadership development for faculty and students at higher education institutions in Southeast Asia, Breckon developed sustainable partnerships for USAID and its program partners and regional stakeholders.
Breckon’s professional experience includes many years of business development and program leadership in the satellite communications and media sectors at corporations and non-profit organizations. He led the special markets team at Discovery Communications, and he directed business development activities at the satellite communications industry’s trade association and for a media research firm in Denver.
Breckon earned his Master’s degree in international affairs from the University of California, San Diego’s (UCSD) School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, graduating in 2013. He was a UCSD Global Leadership Institute Fellow in 2010-11. Breckon’s coursework and projects focused on economic development and political economies in Asia.
