Interim Senior Director, Admissions
Kristy MaKieve offers 30 years of experience of business development, strategy, communications, management and recruiting in not-for profits and academia. MaKieve has been on the business side of healthcare for the past decade and is currently the Director of Membership for the California Medical Association. In addition, she has been expanding the curriculum for healthcare-related coursework at the Graduate School of Management since 2012.
MaKieve’s career in healthcare is multi-faceted, starting with the launch team for the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis and as an executive analyst at the School of Medicine. In this role, MaKieve was the lead staff person for a multi-faceted project that ultimate brought $15 million to UC Davis and UCLA to launch centers linking research and policy in mental health. She then launched the new center and as the administrative director working closely with a consortium of faculty, disseminated more than $4 million in grant funds at UC Davis.
MaKieve received her MBA from the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and a BA in English and Art History from Barnard College at Columbia University. She received her Green Belt in Six Sigma from the College of Engineering, University of Michigan. She lived in Japan for 2 years, teaching English through the JET Programme, learning Japanese and traveling around the northern hemisphere.
