Special Projects Manager, Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
As the special projects manager, Sumiko Hong coordinates the implementation of several new partnerships and programs. These include the Pre-College course in Innovation and Entrepreneurship with UC Davis Extension; the expansion of the Big Bang! Business Competition with the BlueTech Valley Regional Innovation Cluster funded by a California Energy Commission grant; and the creation of new entrepreneurship academies, workshops and clinics funded by Assembly Bill 2664: University of California Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expansion.
Hong has worked at UC Davis since 2001, most recently as the executive director and director of outreach at the Center for Water-Energy Efficiency and director of development and external relations for the Energy Efficiency Center. She has deep experience building strategic relationships with individuals, foundations and corporate entities to increase visibility, awareness of and financial support for the campus.
She earned her B.A. in international relations from UC Davis. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family at the coast and in the mountains.
