A seasoned technology executive with extensive experience as a chief financial officer (CFO), board member, and audit chair, Mike Kourey is serving as the 2025-2026 Robert A. Fox Executive in Residence. He will be teaching Business Formation and Growth Management, an MBA course viewed from the vantage point of a CFO and board member.
Kourey brings extensive experience guiding technology companies through transformational growth, having served in leadership roles at several major technology firms and spearheading six IPOs: Navan (Nasdaq: NAVN); Okta (Nasdaq: OKTA); RingCentral Inc. (NYSE: RNG); Aruba Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARUN); Riverbed Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: RVBD); and Polycom (Nasdaq: PLCM). He focuses primarily on enterprise application software, cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and customer experience.
He most recently served as CFO of Dialpad, an AI-driven business intelligence company, where he continues to be instrumental in driving its significant growth as a board member. He previously held multiple executive roles, including CFO of Okta, Vlocity (acquired by Salesforce) and Medallia, as well as partner at Khosla Ventures and, previously, CFO of Polycom.
Kourey has been CFO for more than 60 public quarters and, as audit chair or member, for approximately 100 public quarters. In addition to six IPOs, Kourey has extensive buy-side and sell-side M&A experience—public, private, domestic and cross-border. Throughout his tenure, he has been involved in value creation totaling tens of billions of dollars across multiple companies.
He is currently audit chair and board member of Navan, the leading global travel and expense management solution; audit chair and board member of Cribl, the data engine for IT and security; audit chair and board member of Illumio, the Zero Trust Segmentation company; audit committee, compensation committee and board member of Dialpad; board member of Medable, a leading provider of clinical development technology; and board member of Ohalo, an agricultural technology company.
Kourey is a member of the Board of Trustees at Villanova University, serves on the Chancellor’s Board of Advisors at UC Davis and is a long-standing member of the Dean's Advisory Council at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. He has periodically guest lectured at several leading universities, including Stanford, Harvard, UC Berkeley and UC Davis, where he previously led the CFO for Technology Industry Immersion.
He received his MBA from Santa Clara University in 1986 and his bachelor’s degree in agricultural and managerial economics from UC Davis in 1981. He met his wife at UC Davis in 1980. They have three grown children and live in Danville, California.
