MPAc Prerequisites

Because the MPAc program welcomes students from a variety of academic backgrounds, all applicants must complete specific prerequisite coursework before enrolling.

Required Courses

Applicants must successfully complete the following UC Davis courses, or their equivalent, at any accredited institution:

  • MGT 011A: Principles of Financial Accounting (4 units)
  • MGT 011B: Elementary Managerial Accounting (4 units)
  • ARE 018: Business Law (4 units)
  • STA 013: Elementary Statistics (4 units)

Important Requirements

  • Prerequisite courses may be in progress at the time of application.
  • All prerequisites must be completed with a grade of B- or higher before enrollment in the fall term.
  • Pass/No Pass grades are not accepted.
  • No exceptions will be made to these requirements.
  • Prerequisite courses cannot be taken concurrently with the MPAc curriculum and must be completed before the program begins.

Demonstrating Academic Readiness

Successful applicants are expected to have a current understanding of foundational accounting concepts. We recommend completing the financial and managerial accounting prerequisites within five years of your intended enrollment term.

If these courses were completed more than five years ago, applicants may demonstrate readiness through:

  • Additional accounting coursework, and/or
  • Relevant professional experience

If you plan to complete prerequisite courses after submitting your application, please indicate:

  • The institution where the course(s) will be taken
  • The expected completion date(s)

Accredited Institutions
