Concurrent degree programs give you the opportunity to obtain a cross-disciplinary degree from both the Graduate School of Management and one of UCs' nationally ranked programs. Having a concurrent degree can be a powerful way to catapult your career and earning potential in important sectors of the job market.

From UC Law SF: The JD degree program at UC Law SF is normally a six-semester (three-year) program. The MBA degree program at GSM is normally a six-quarter, two-year program. Students earning the two degrees concurrently may earn the JD from UC Law SF in five semesters and the MBA from GSM in five quarters, reducing the overall time needed to obtain both degrees by roughly one calendar year. To allow students to earn the two degrees in as few as four years, the two schools accept some of each other’s credits for the degree requirements, subject to each institution’s separate policies with regards to the acceptance of credits taken at another educational institution. The respective Deans (including the UC Law SF Assistant Dean of Students) determine which courses will be credited toward both degrees.

To be considered for a concurrent degree program, you must be admitted to both Graduate School of Management and the other UC graduate program of your choosing.
While there are no formal concurrent degree agreements in place for the MD/MBA or PhD/MBA pathways, the Graduate School of Management may be able to collaborate with your home department to design a customized concurrent degree plan. Students interested in pursuing an informal MD/MBA or PhD/MBA option are encouraged to contact the GSM early in their planning process so we can explore potential coordination, timelines and degree requirements.
