Joshua Hubbard is assistant news director at ABC7 News (KGO-TV) in San Francisco, part of The Walt Disney Company, where he helps lead newsroom operations, editorial strategy and multiplatform content initiatives. An award-winning media executive and journalist, he brings more than 20 years of experience producing, managing and leading coverage of major news events, including presidential elections, natural disasters, professional sports championships and breaking news stories of national and international significance.

Before joining KGO-TV, Hubbard held leadership positions at several prominent television stations, including KHOU (CBS) in Houston, KUSA (NBC) in Denver and KCRA (NBC) in Sacramento. Throughout his career, he has helped guide news organizations through significant changes in technology, audience behavior and content distribution across broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.

A six-time Emmy Award winner, Hubbard has been recognized for excellence in breaking news and enterprise journalism, including coverage of Hurricane Harvey and other major events. He has also contributed to newsroom teams honored with national Edward R. Murrow Awards for digital journalism and breaking news coverage.

Hubbard is passionate about the intersection of journalism, business strategy and innovation. As an MBA graduate of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, he brings a practical industry perspective to the classroom, helping students understand how media organizations create value, respond to technological disruption, build audiences and adapt to the rapidly evolving information economy.

He holds an MBA from the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University. At UC Davis, he teaches The Business of Media, exploring the economic forces, leadership challenges and digital transformation shaping today’s media landscape.
