Gerard Bañales

Associate Director of Admissions, Full-Time MBA and MM

Gerard P. Bañales (he/him/his) serves as an associate director of admissions for the Full-Time MBA and Master of Management programs at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. He joined the Graduate School of Management in December 2024, bringing more than a decade of experience in higher education, focusing on admissions, recruitment, and enrollment management.

In this role, Bañales guides prospective students through the admissions journey, from their first inquiry to enrollment. He develops and executes strategic recruitment initiatives to attract top-tier candidates who embody the values and mission of the programs. Additionally, he collaborates with faculty and staff to enhance the admissions process, ensuring a seamless experience for applicants.

Bañales holds a master’s degree in education in enrollment management and policy from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Riverside. His professional background includes leadership roles at institutions such as UC San Diego's Rady School of Management and Cal State Monterey Bay, where he gained expertise in admissions strategy, enrollment management, and student engagement. He is driven by a commitment to elevating access to higher education and ensuring every student has the tools and support they need to succeed.

Outside of work, Bañales enjoys watching motorsports, soccer, and water polo, as well as playing online video games, traveling, exploring new cuisines, and connecting with his community. These activities keep him energized and inspired.
