The Tiger Woods scandal has been a major focus in the media over
the holidays. And now UCD professors have quantified the cost of
the scandal to shareholders of companies endorsing Woods.
Both professors are from UC Davis:
A big group of us went to the Net Impact conference, held at Cornell University this year. There were 27 of us, both first- and second-years. Big turnout! You should read about the conference (and the organization), but suffice to say, it’s about social responsibility in the business sector. Traditionally, businesses have been focused on the bottom line (profits) but for many companies in recent years, the focus has shifted towards the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit).
In October we put out a call for applications for the next
generation of UC Davis Ambassadors. The class of 2011 responded
en masse — we received 17 applications for six spots! All of the
applicants would make amazing Ambassadors and all will make
fantastic campus hosts. It was an incredibly tough selection
process – thank goodness we don’t work in the admissions office –
but with lots of discussion and back and forth we have our list
of six ambassadors. Here’s a little background info on each of
them. You’ll be hearing more from them soon.
The GSM started a series of blogs from some of the first-year
students completing their internships this summer. So, if you are
