UC Davis Food & Ag Business Challenge

In 2021, we hosted the first-ever competition, bringing together 11 teams from 8 West Coast business schools and more than 30 students. The students spent the night researching and developing supply chain and technology solutions based on real data from United Natural Foods Inc. The next day, they presented their findings to a panel of industry experts and the winners were crowned.

This year, we're celebrating the major changes that are occurring in the Food & Ag industry (e.g., food safety, block chain technology, plant‐based proteins, sustainable food chains) by once again pairing student teams against the clock in search of bragging rights and $5,000 in prize money. 

Student teams throughout California and across the western U.S. will showcase their skills and put them to the test. Teams are encouraged to include functional experts (food/ag) from graduate programs alongside MBA students to create interdisciplinary teams.

The competition is designed to engage teams of students (three students per team) in solving a business case focused on a food or agricultural supply chain problem. The case will be developed with the assistance of our program sponsor(s).
