Policy on Lunch & Dinner Breaks at the San Ramon Campus

In San Ramon, lunch and dinner breaks are to be set at 60 minutes (the regularly scheduled times). Even if everyone in the class says they want a 30-minute break instead, the break is to remain as scheduled.

The reason for this rule is that individuals who may have good reasons for wanting the hour break will feel pressured not to speak up (even if it is done confidentially via email) if they feel all others want the 30-minute break.

We advertise the program as having the 60-minute break, and therefore, we need to be consistent with this policy as advertised. If the faculty decide to change this, they will have to vote on it and we will need to include the possibility of a 30-minute break in our recruitment materials. For the time being, the dinner breaks should stay at 60-minutes.
