Quantitative Fundamentals and Spreadsheet Modeling Course Requirement

***Incoming students are required to complete the Online Quantitative Fundamentals Course***

Purpose

These online self-paced courses are meant to be refresher courses for our newly enrolled students in the subject areas of Algebra, Statistics, Probability, and Spreadsheet Modeling courses. These subjects were chosen by the GSM faculty to boost incoming students' quantitative skills by exposing them to problem sets that will be used throughout the MBA curriculum and improve their Excel literacy. This is a review for students to ensure that they have the tools they need to succeed in the GSM curriculum.

While the courses are self-paced and are a review, there is a benchmark that needs to be met.  Each student must earn a cumulative score across the quantitative courses of 85% or higher and a score of 60% or higher for the Spreadsheet Modeling course.

  • Each course will have an online course, with a pre-test and a final. If a student takes the pre-test and does not meet the benchmark score, they have the option to try again by completing the final. The lowest score of the pre-test or final will be dropped and only the highest score will count towards the cumulative score.
  • If the cumulative score across the quantitative courses is less than 85% or if the Spreadsheet Modeling score is less than 60%, then students will be required to take an in-person course with an instructor who will review all the problem sets and excel modeling during the month of September.
  • To be assigned to the in-person course, a student must complete the pre-tests and finals for each course and still not meet the 85% (for the quantitative courses) or 60% (for Spreadsheet Modeling) or higher score.
  • To ensure the best preparation for students who are required to attend these in-person sessions, spaces are limited to only those students who are required to attend.
