Teaching Assistant Positions for Undergraduate Accounting Courses

Job Description

The Graduate School of Management is now accepting applications for Teaching Assistant (TA) appointments for the Winter 2026, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 terms. These positions support undergraduate accounting courses and will be assigned at 25% (10 hours per week).

Required Qualifications

Graduate standing with completion of equivalent accounting course(s) at an accredited university with a letter grade of B or above.

Applicants must meet minimum eligibility restrictions:

  • Must be full-time enrolled UC Davis graduate students.
  • Must be in good academic standing (requires a grade-point average of at least 3.0 in academic work, no incomplete or no grades, and status within normative time and/or time to degree standards).
  • Must provide evidence of employment eligibility (US Citizen, lawful Permanent Resident, eligible Visa status (J1, F1), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
  • Must receive Employment Disclosure clearance.
  • Must disclose if applicant is subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last 7 years determining that they committed any misconduct, are currently being investigated for misconduct, left a position during an investigation for alleged misconduct, or have filed an appeal with a previous employer. “Misconduct” means any violation of the policies or laws governing conduct at the applicant’s previous place of employment, including, but not limited to, violations of policies or laws prohibiting sexual harassment, sexual assault, or other forms of harassment, discrimination, dishonesty, or unethical conduct, as defined by the employer.
  • Must meet TA English Language Requirements via TALRA.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience are highly preferred.

  • Completion of advanced accounting courses with a grade B or above 
  • Work experience related to accounting 
  • Interest in pursuing CPA and/or professional career in accounting 
  • Prior tutoring experience 
  • Strong communication and writing skills 
  • Familiarity with Canvas

The following courses are planned for each quarter and will include weekly discussion sections led by Teaching Assistants (TAs).

Spring 2026: MGT 11A, MGT 11B, MGT 101, MGT 103, MGT 107, MGT 170 

Summer 2026: MGT 11A, MGT 11B, MGT 103 

Tasks and Duties

TA tasks and duties include assisting the instructor with course needs such as (not limited to):

  • Attending lectures 
  • Participating in weekly TA meetings 
  • Grading assignments and entering grades in Canvas 
  • Setting up quizzes, exams and assignments on Canvas 
  • Leading weekly in-person discussion sessions 
  • Proctoring exams 
  • Sending reminders for assignment submissions 
  • Communications with students and the instructor of record 
  • The TA is responsible (after accepting a TA offer) to connect with the instructor of record no later than one week before the quarter begins to discuss the specific duties, sections and office hours
  • The TA is responsible for attending the UC Davis TA Orientation prior to assuming TA responsibilities
