Colin Goulding
Director of Undergraduate Advising and Policy
Colin Goulding serves as the director of undergraduate advising and policy for the Graduate School of Management’s Undergraduate Business Programs at UC Davis, where he leads the advising team and sets policy to support students throughout their academic journey.
Goulding’s relationship with UC Davis began as a student: he came to campus as an undergraduate in 2007 and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in biological science, an experience that continues to shape his approach to advising today.
Since graduating, Goulding has built his career across several corners of the university. He began in Undergraduate Admissions as an admissions advisor, then moved into the College of Engineering as the graduate and undergraduate program coordinator for biological and agricultural engineering. From there, he joined the Office of the University Registrar as a business systems analyst, gaining a deeper understanding of the systems that support the student experience campuswide. He then returned to direct advising in the College of Letters and Science Dean’s Office, first as an academic advisor and later as a senior academic advisor, before stepping into his current role at the Graduate School of Management.
In his work, Goulding enjoys partnering with stakeholders across the university to improve processes and enhance the student experience. He’s passionate about minimizing busywork wherever possible, creating space for advisors to focus on transformational advising.
Goulding grew up in Petaluma, California. Outside the office, he enjoys cooking and baking, gardening, classic cars, DIY and home improvement projects, and finding new activities to do with his golden retriever.
Across every role, Goulding has been driven by a commitment to student success, informed by his own experience as a UC Davis undergraduate and deepened by more than a decade working across the university’s academic and administrative systems.
