Biz Quiz: Where Business Knowledge Meets Competitive Spirit

"The ceiling of where this can go is incredible."

UC Davis and Financial Times' Biz Quiz brings together student teams from California to New York for an intense, nationwide competition. Teams battle in buzzer-style rounds, showcasing business knowledge and national recognition.

Stephen Morris, San Francisco Bureau Chief at Financial Times

I'm here at UC Davis as one of the hosts for the Biz Quiz, which is being held here for the third year in partnership with the FT. It brings together teams of students from across the country, from here in California to Texas, all the way to New York, and they compete in a buzzer-style competition. Quickest buzzer wins. Students aren't always right, but they seem to be having a great time so far.

Dinesh Chowdary, UC Davis Full-Time MBA student

Competing in the Financial Times quiz could obviously be a good addition to my resume. And also the content and the theory we learned on the policies that different countries are implementing would obviously help us do much better in terms of case studies and financial-based companies' interviews.

Nancy Pfund, Founder and Managing Partner at DBL Partners

I think that when you're a business school student, it's an opportunity to take a step back and recognize that this is your chance to understand the world in a much more diverse way and to be with students, with professors that share your thirst for knowledge and your goals for your future. But they come from completely different places, because I think that's really where real learning starts.

Vanessa Errecarte, UC Davis Lecturer

I love this event. It's so exciting, and I love that in our third year, it has become this way for business students across the nation to have so much camaraderie with one another about issues and current events of our time that are really shaping the things we need to be concerned about in our modern business world. The ceiling of where this can go is incredible.

Sunny Sharma, MBA Student at University of Texas, Austin

So I would say that everyone should come here and experience and try to get a sense of what knowledge at this level is the standard. So, one, it is fun. Second, we are able to apply ourselves with all the things that we have learned, and we can also meet new friends and see what's happening across other business schools.

It’s good to learn from your peers and understand a bit more. And it's good, like we had a session with an expert, Nancy, yesterday. She comes from a VC background. It was so good to hear her and her strategy about Tesla and the initial investments that she has made. So, it's an overall learning experience to meet the experts and your fellow peers across the business schools in the U.S.
