A study published in the Annals of Operations Research by UC Davis Faculty Pantelis Loupos, Jörn Boehnke and Ying Gu of the University of Washington revealed that among 2 million Venmo users and 23 million transactions analyzed over two years, more than 83,000 users were involved in drug-related transactions using coded language and emojis.
