Putting My MBA to Work in Healthcare: A Journey in Pediatric Emergency Preparedness

Instilled with a greater sense of global responsibility

The landscape of pediatric emergency preparedness is evolving. Decisions carry implications that extend across local, regional, and national borders.

As the marketing and communications lead for the Western Regional Alliance for Pediatric Emergency Management (WRAP-EM) and as a contributor to the overarching efforts of the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) grant team, I help shape the conversation surrounding the vital work of the organization’s initiatives.

My journey as a Sacramento Part-Time MBA at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management (GSM) has inspired me to communicate with a global outlook, enabling me to contribute to the far-reaching impact of WRAP-EM and PPN initiatives—both are affiliates of UC Davis Health in Sacramento.

Thinking Beyond Borders

The GSM has been instrumental in broadening my perspective, particularly in the realm of grant work.

The UC Davis MBA curriculum encourages innovative thinking and a global outlook, which has equipped me with the tools to transcend borders in my approach to strategic communications.

The emphasis on comprehensive management strategies, coupled with exposure to diverse perspectives and international case studies, has enabled me to navigate the nuances of pediatric emergency management with a keen awareness of the broader landscape.

My UC Davis MBA experience has enhanced my ability to communicate strategically and has also instilled in me a sense of global responsibility.

Innovative and Strategic Thinking

As a member of the communications team for WRAP-EM and PPN, the GSM has honed my creativity to help these organizations find their impact. Our strategic communications efforts transcend conventional boundaries to foster a lasting effect on pediatric emergency preparedness.

WRAP-EM and PPN play a strategic role in the global conversation about pediatric emergency preparedness. The MBA program provides me with the tools to approach my work with a mindset that encompasses leadership, networking, innovation, and global awareness.

My work isn't just a job—it's a journey inspired by UC Davis, aiming to make a positive impact on children and families worldwide.
