It’s been an exciting ride for this computer science engineer. Shalini Mishra started her career as a decision scientist at MuSigma, an analytics consultancy, and the moved to PayPal. She decided to pursue an MSBA to just not exist but to excel in the data science field, and to enrich her skillset working with the brightest of minds. As a DSAC member, she looks into the curriculum division, which provides a forum for classmates to express their concerns and ideas.
To Rayna Ji, life is a series of adventures, full of endless possibilities. She finds it hard to resist challenges, so she tastes and learns new things constantly.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Ana Parra Vera is an analytics professional with a passion for diversity and opportunities in STEM. She currently supports recruiting efforts at UC Davis as an executive student assistant for the MSBA program, and organizes outreach events with scholars and alumni from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
Born and raised in Beijing, Ruoyi Liang graduated with double accounting degrees from China Agricultural University and Bedfordshire University. After exploring in the business world for many years, Liang decided to enroll in the UC Davis Part-time MBA program in June 2019. After that—pursuing her interest in data analytics—she joined the MSBA program.
Entrepreneur by heart, techie by soul. The only thing Mayank Mani loves more than watching a Netflix series is solving a puzzle. He takes every problem as a challenge, and every challenge as an opportunity to grow. Mani has four years of experience in product management (conceptualizing and implementing one of the fastest-growing corporate gifting platforms in India) and software development (setting up the first integration project for Blu-Ray disk players at Samsung India).
Originally an electronic engineering graduate from India, Swati Vaishampayan worked as an analyst in management consulting and then at a global payments firm for three years. Realizing the need for strong foundational knowledge in data science, she entered the UC Davis MSBA program in August 2019. As a student leader, she has helped organize community events like the Diwali party and career development activities.
With a solid engineering background, Michael Chen is a passionate problem solver driven by a data-driven mindset. His enthusiasm for data analytics started during his advanced manufacturing research experiences and continued throughout his professional journey in the fin-tech industry. Chen joined the UC Davis MSBA program to gain proficiency in data science tools and—most importantly—to develop a strong business acumen across a multiple analytical use case.
A lover of math with a passion for analytics, Alayna Myrick earned her bachelor’s in economics and mathematics before furthering her education through the UC Davis MSBA program. Her enthusiasm for helping nonprofits through data analysis and consulting began with her tenure directing the University of the Pacific’s Integrated Development Group. Currently working as a private math teacher, Myrick spends her free time cooking and developing predictive models for sports injuries. She hopes to pursue a career in consulting.
Nandini Basu’s fascination with analytics is driven by her pursuit of finding definition in uncertainty. She wants to augment her product experience with specific analytical skills to drive measurable business-level insights. Basu has project management and leadership experience and wants to pursue a career in model building and predictive analysis. Her expertise lies in blue-sky thinking and road mapping solutions to data-defined problems.
